Principal Engineer - Structures (Oil & Gas)

Role Overview

Engineering Responsibilities

• Prepare foundation, steel structure, and concrete structure designs and calculations in compliance with industry standards.
• Perform structural analysis and design using Space Gass, STAAD Pro, SACS, Tekla, E3D, or S3D.
• Prepare structural drawings, specifications, reports, design calculations, and connection details.
• Design foundations, concrete piles, underground vaults and tunnels, slab reinforcement, steel structures, platforms, ladders, trusses, bents, and support towers.
• Calculate loads, select structural members, and develop solutions for industrial projects.
• Interpret domestic and foreign structural codes and apply client-specific standards.
• Verify field conditions and constructability and assist with construction-related design problems.

Project Delivery and Coordination

• Coordinate with piping, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
• Redline CAD drawings and review updated submittals for accuracy.
• Perform high-quality self-checks and follow internal quality-control processes.
• Report progress, risks, and concerns while managing schedule, budget, and multiple project scopes.
• Coordinate with Australian lead offices and communicate with project teams and clients.
• Maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and team members.
• Support health and safety practices, sustainability, service improvements, and knowledge sharing.

Required Competencies

• Computer literacy with reasonable proficiency in Microsoft Office and Navisworks.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Collaboration, teamwork, technical capability, delivery, adaptability, and learning.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision or independently and communicate in a multidisciplinary team.

Experience and Preferences

• The role requires structural engineering design capability for industrial or mining infrastructure projects.
• A valid passport is required according to the source description.
• Australian experience and structural design, shop detailing, or site experience are preferred.
• Thirteen to sixteen years of consulting-firm experience in an EPCM environment in oil and gas, power, or mining processing is preferred.
