Role overview

The Pre-Sales Engineer evaluates tenders, designs security system solutions, prepares BOQs and costing, and supports sales and project deployment.

Core responsibilities

  • Evaluate RFQs and RFPs, understand customer requirements, and participate in site surveys where possible.
  • Discuss solutions with sales and obtain written supplier or manufacturer confirmation of compliance.
  • Finalize security system designs, BOQs, and costing according to the received scope.
  • Review costing, identify potential errors, and approve offers before submission.
  • Plan tender submissions and ensure prompt technical submittals and design architecture.
  • Coordinate with technical and sales teams to support efficient departmental operations.

Customer and project support

  • Collaborate with business and project managers to sell and deploy technical systems at client locations.
  • Provide supplier feedback and direct procurement and technical teams on system or product modifications.
  • Develop technical solutions that address customer requirements and optimize value.
  • Support sales in defining opportunities and closing projects with appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain customer contacts and monitor customer satisfaction.
  • Provide professional advice to staff, external organizations, and contractors.

Requirements

  • Ability to evaluate RFQs and RFPs and understand exact customer requirements.
  • Ability to conduct or participate in site surveys and scope relevant details.
  • Ability to prepare compliant security system designs, BOQs, and costing.
  • Ability to review costing, identify errors, and approve offers before submission.
  • Knowledge of security system regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Ability to translate complex technical principles and information for varied stakeholders.
