Job Summary
Conduct agronomy research to improve crop yields and production techniques in saline and marginal environments across different agro-climatic zones.
Screen, evaluate, and optimize crop management practices in Dubai and develop crop models to simulate growth and identify yield gaps.
Monitor demonstration and experimental sites, including crop rotation, weed and pest control, plot maintenance, agronomy, and harvest activities.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct literature reviews related to agronomy and research needs.
- Establish and evaluate experimental trials and demonstration farms and report results.
- Contribute to proposals, concept notes, project development, and funding procurement.
- Support the Senior Scientist on crop production projects in saline and marginal environments.
- Conduct field experiments on crop optimization and seed production.
- Develop crop modeling and simulation and perform yield-gap analysis.
- Synthesize data and prepare scientific reports and publications.
- Assist with institutional publications and supervise associate technicians and field workers.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Ph.D. in agronomy or a related field from a recognized university.
- At least two years of experience in forage and crop production systems.
- Strong publication record in refereed journals.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- International work experience.
Desirable Qualifications
- Working knowledge of statistics and database management.
- Additional language skills, with Arabic desirable.
- Supervisory experience.
