Work arrangement
- This is a full-time regular role.
- The position follows a flexible hybrid schedule.
- The work location is 483 Bay Street in Toronto until approximately late 2026, then the new Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway.

The Portfolio Engineer will deliver repeatable portfolio construction and oversight capabilities.
The role builds analytics, tools, and data workflows supporting investment decisions and operational execution.
Portfolio engineering
- Build scalable portfolio construction and rebalance tools for managed account solutions and personalized investing needs.
- Scope systems, data, and infrastructure and map dependencies for systematic portfolio construction.
- Develop first-generation tools and partner with internal resources to establish consistent portfolio construction capabilities.
Analytics and reporting
- Develop and maintain investment monitoring and risk reporting with accurate, repeatable, decision-useful data pipelines.
- Apply advanced statistical analysis to risk modelling and portfolio customization using large datasets.
- Improve investment process efficiency through automation, standardization, and documentation.
Cross-functional delivery
- Partner with portfolio management, risk, compliance, operations, product, and technology teams.
- Implement controlled workflows aligned with platform strategy and governance expectations.
Required qualifications
- A relevant university degree or equivalent experience is required.
- At least five years of relevant portfolio analytics, portfolio engineering, risk analytics, investment technology, or investment management experience is required.
- Production or near-production programming and SQL experience is required.
- Experience with portfolio analytics or construction workflows and monitoring or risk reporting tools is required.
Technical and investment knowledge
- Quantitative analysis, programming, data pipelines, data quality controls, portfolio construction, rebalancing, and investment operations knowledge are required.
- Knowledge of AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and emerging data science trends is preferred.
- Enterprise reporting tools, multi-asset products, managed accounts, personalization features, and portfolio data platforms are preferred.
Compensation
- The competitive annual base salary range is $123,000 to $140,000 based on experience and qualifications.
- The compensation package includes a discretionary performance bonus and RRSP contributions after six months of employment.
