Reporting to Director, Operations Finance, the Plant Controller will be responsible for ongoing analysis of results with insights and recommendations on performance improvement opportunities. Ensure control policies are in place to safeguard company assets . As a strong financial leader with acute business acumen skills, the Plant Controller will be working with Plant management and the Finance team. A trusted business partner involved in strategy development, analysis and decision making for plant results. Responsible for providing financial and non-financial insights required to manage plant performance and ensure goals are met. Lead plant operating budget, ensure clear accountabilities are in place to meet plan.
Analyze variances versus standard and budgeted costs for month and year-to-date results. Prepare the required variance reporting.
Operational Metrics and Variance Analyses
Track monthly metrics for savings – work closely with QA, Production, Procurement, and Scheduling.
Month-End/Year-End Closing and Plant Financials
Presenting and reviewing results with plant teams and Finance with implications and follow ups.
Prepare plant monthly financial review package.

Manufacturing Planning/Budgeting & Controls
Help prepare, document, and analyze manufacturing budget for plant. This includes direct labour, indirect labour, capital, efficiencies and all other plant expenses.
Develop, monitor, and update plant overhead standards and all of the supporting work this implies, including understanding and/or developing crewing, machine speeds, material yields, plant allocation measures, and overhead budgets.
Monitor plant overhead actual results and compare to standards.
Prepare the financial evaluation of plant capital expenditures proposals and control spending.
Special Projects
Prepare financial data, business input and analysis for special projects
Support VPs, Plant Manager and Department Managers on key projects
Data, Report Management and System Support
Shared roles in specific areas of data management and system support
Define, assist in developing (or develop where possible) and manage key reports, data, and systems to support Plant teams and downstream data users
University Degree in Business and Accounting, required. Prefer working towards Accounting Designation (CGA, CMA)
Two to three years of hands-on manufacturing accounting experience at the plant level.
Cost accounting experience, with strong inventory background and budgeting.
Multi-facility environment experience, preferred.
In-depth working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
Enterprise solution software experience (MS Dynamics AX Preferred)
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel in a manufacturing organization
Results oriented and able to meet tight deadlines and willing and able to provide new ideas and challenge current thinking
Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities based on business needs
Good organizational skills and detail oriented with ability to work with minimal supervision
Able to work both independently and as a team player
