Key skills for this role
Lays out, assembles, fabricates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs piping systems carrying water, steam, chemicals, and fuel in heating, cooling, lubricating, and other process piping systems
Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements
Selects type and size of pipe required
Measures, cuts, and threads pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
Tack, welds and threads joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
Installs supports, valves, piping, and control systems
Tests system for leaks using testing equipment
Cleans and maintains pipe units and fittings and flush systems
Removes and replaces worn components and reactivates systems
Listen and be receptive to instructions and work to achieve set goals, action plans and timelines for project completion.
Apply knowledge and skills learned from coaches and mentors to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.
Qualifications:
Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
1-2 years of directly related work experience.
This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.
