Operate cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials.
Drive the crane to the job site.
Rig the machine up (pin the boom and pendant cables and pull the hoist cable in preparation for operation).
Set up the machine for the lift (make it level and stable) using blocking and leveling materials.
Booms (including telescoping booms and articulating booms possessing live lines) capable of swinging, hoisting and booming up and down with a lifting capacity of greater than 5 tons (4.5 tonnes) and less than 45 tons (40.8 tons).
Service and operate travelling, fixed or climbing type hoisting equipment with a vertical mast or tower and a jib.
Perform pre-operational inspection, and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting.
Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating cranes.
Listen and be receptive to instructions and work to achieve set goals, action plans and timelines for project completion.
Apply knowledge and skills learned from coaches and mentors to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.
Qualifications:
Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
1-2 years of directly related work experience.
This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.
