Position Overview
A temporary full-time Registered Pharmacy Technician opportunity is available in the Pharmacy Services department.
The position reports to the Pharmacy Manager and supports technical drug distribution, quality assurance, and patient care activities.
The temporary assignment runs until March 31, 2027.
Core Duties
- Process, fill, and provide final checks for patient-specific medication orders while monitoring allergies, interactions, and other alerts.
- Obtain and document Best Possible Medication Histories and collaborate with healthcare team members to support seamless care.
- Perform unit dose distribution and prepare and deliver sterile and non-sterile medications.
- Manage ward stock, pharmacy automation, Epic-Willow Inventory, narcotic records, and controlled drug distribution.
- Receive and dispense investigational study drugs according to trial protocols.
- Monitor drug supplies and support recalls, shortages, projects, student mentorship, and administrative activities.
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician program or bridging program is required.
- Current registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists is required.
- Previous healthcare experience is required, with hospital experience preferred.
- Unit dosing, IV admixture, and Best Possible Medication History experience are strongly preferred.
- Candidates must demonstrate accuracy, communication, collaboration, time management, flexibility, and computer application skills.
- Candidates must comply with patient and staff safety policies, procedures, and applicable professional standards.
