About Women's College Hospital

Employment Details
- This is a regular full-time opportunity and a replacement position.
- Primary shifts are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with occasional 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. shifts.
- The role supports operating room and surgical services areas in a hospital setting.
Patient Care Duties
- Assist operating room staff and physicians with patient surgical preparation and continuity of care.
- Anticipate team needs during procedures and escort patients through perioperative service areas.
- Coordinate patient flow with medical secretaries, registered nurses, and physicians.
- Prepare and turn over procedure rooms, manage equipment and supplies, and maintain infection control.
- Transport used instruments and relay patient concerns to healthcare providers.
Department Organization
- Order, receive, stock, and monitor medical and surgical supplies, linens, and inventory.
- Check expiry dates, prepare requisitions, organize specimens, and perform end-of-day preparation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of procedure rooms, utility rooms, carts, equipment, and workstations.
- Support safe practices, effective communication, teamwork, and current knowledge of surgical services.
Qualifications
- Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate with theory and practicum completed.
- BCLS or Heart Saver certificate, or completion within three months of hire.
- Membership with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario is preferred.
- Previous operating room and surgical clinic experience are preferred.
- Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology is an asset.
Additional Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, communication, multitasking, prioritization, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Competent computer skills, ability to work with minimal direction, and ability to function in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to meet physical demands including frequent walking, standing, reaching, bending, and pushing up to 40 pounds.
- Professional behaviour and communication must meet applicable professional and hospital standards.
