Personal Support Worker

CCH provides a full range of acute inpatient, outpatient and community mental health services to a catchment area of 100,000 people from the communities of Cornwall, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and to the Mohawk community of Akwesasne.

Summary of responsibilities

The Personal Support Worker is responsible for providing direct and indirect activities that support the overall provision of nursing care on the nursing units as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient’s plan of care.

This also includes one-on-one care to patients as required.

• Graduate of a Personal Support Worker Program from a Community College
• Holds current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
• Demonstrated ability to work with patients with dementia or cognitive impairments
• Demonstrated knowledge and practice of good body mechanics
• Good listening skills
• Ability to understand, interpret and carry out written or verbal instructions
• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of the multidisciplinary team
