Summary

Reporting to Team Lead, the Payroll & Benefits Coordinator will ensure accurate processing and recording of company’s Hourly payroll and back up where required; provide timely and accurate financial information; participate in daily data entry Payroll processing.

Primary Responsibilities

Administer team member benefits programs, including health, dental, life, disability, and group retirement plans
Maintain accurate and confidential team member benefits records in carrier platforms
Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
Pulls reports, sorts, and distributes payroll hours reports for verification and adjustment by operations
Reviews hours reports, prepares discrepancy reports, and follows up
Verifies that all hours and other data have been accurately input and downloads the information for payroll processing on a weekly basis.
Prepares a variety of reports for team leaders and managers to aid in the tracking of and verification of pay.
Assists in the resolution of pay discrepancies.
Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
Understand proper withholding tax on different types of payments
Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll

Post-secondary education in a related field
Experience with SAP payroll systems is an asset
1-2 years of experience processing Canadian payroll; USA payroll is an asset
Working knowledge of payroll best practices
Working knowledge of Time and Attendance systems
Strong knowledge of government regulations
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
Excellent decision-making; problem-solving, and analytical skills.
High attention to detail; strong organizational; multi-tasking; and prioritizing skills
Advanced Excel, excellent computer skills
National Payroll Institute designation is preferred or in progress
