P3M: Project, Programme & Portfolio Management & Controls - NDA group graduates 2027

The Project and Programme Management Job Family plays a vital role in delivering the NDA group’s mission by leading and supporting the successful delivery of complex projects, programmes and portfolios. Professionals in this area help plan, coordinate, monitor and control work to ensure outcomes are achieved safely, efficiently and in line with strategic objectives. They also support effective supply chain management and help ensure that delivery meets the highest standards of quality, governance and safety.

This job family encompasses a broad range of disciplines, including project management, programme management, project controls, planning, risk management, cost and schedule management, performance reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Project Management focuses on delivering defined objectives within agreed scope, time, cost and quality parameters. Programme Management provides leadership and coordination across multiple projects and business activities to deliver wider strategic benefits and organisational change. Project Controls provides the planning, cost, schedule, risk and performance information needed to support effective decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

Together, these disciplines provide the structure, insight and assurance needed to manage complexity, support delivery and ensure projects and programmes achieve successful outcomes in challenging and highly regulated environments.

As a Project, Programme Management or Controls Graduate, you will help deliver some of the UK's most complex and nationally significant environmental, engineering and infrastructure programmes.

Project and programme professionals play a key role in turning strategic objectives into successful outcomes. Through your placements, you will gain experience supporting the planning, coordination, governance and delivery of work that contributes to the safe, secure and sustainable management of the UK's nuclear legacy.

Working alongside experienced professionals and multidisciplinary teams, you may contribute to activities such as project delivery, programme coordination, planning and scheduling, risk management, cost management, stakeholder engagement, performance reporting and project controls. You will develop an understanding of how these disciplines work together to support informed decision-making and successful delivery.

You could gain exposure to a diverse range of projects and programmes, including major infrastructure developments, decommissioning activities, technology deployment and business transformation initiatives. This breadth of experience will provide valuable insight into how complex programmes are managed within highly regulated environments.

As part of this pathway, you will undertake the Project Management Qualification (PMQ) from the Association for Project Management (APM), helping you build the knowledge and practical skills needed for a career in project, programme or project controls management.

This pathway would suit individuals who enjoy solving problems, working with people and helping turn ideas into successful outcomes.

Whether your interests lie in planning, project delivery, programme management, risk management or project controls, this pathway will provide valuable experience supporting work of national importance.

Throughout your two-year journey on the NDA group graduates programme, you will be employed by Energus and complete two 12-month secondments within the NDA group.

At the end of the programme, we will support you to secure a role within the NDA group or within the wider nuclear sector, helping you take the next step in your career.

To be willing and able to travel and relocate to any of the offices/sites that host secondments for your chosen programme. Secondments are organised to maximise your development and are aligned to business needs.

The recruitment and selection process consists of the following stages:

Online application form - please complete all required sections of the application to ensure this is submitted successfully.

Psychometric assessment - called Neurosight, this will be sent via email.

Online interview - a 30 minute video interview with representatives from one of the sponsoring organisations.

Assessment centre – these will be delivered face to face and will involve various activities, alongside insightful information around the nuclear industry and our programme.

Offer - following our assessment centres, we aim to issue outcomes within two weeks. Successful candidates will begin their exciting journey as an NDA group Graduate, working with our dedicated Energus People & Skills team to complete security paperwork ahead of starting the programme in September 2027.

Onboarding - we welcome all our graduates ahead of the start date, through social media groups and welcome sessions, ensuring you are prepared, and any support required is in place, providing you with the best start to your exciting future as an NDA group Graduate.

Face-to-face assessment centres will take place in early 2027. If you are invited to an assessment centre and are unable to attend, unfortunately you may be unable to complete the selection process.
