About the Role

Responsibilities
- Review, interpret, and clarify doctor's medication orders; verify doses, duration, and check for drug interactions
- Oversee preparation of verified medications, perform double checking, and dispense
- Calculate drug product amounts based on body weight and patient age
- Perform computer entry of prescriptions into CPOE system
- Counsel patients and caregivers on proper and safe use of medication
- Maintain inventory control and security of drugs, including narcotics and controlled medications
- Ensure proper charging of patients for dispensed medications
- Comply with infection prevention and control standards when handling medications
- Contribute to training and induction for new pharmacists and students
- Report medication errors or adverse drug reactions to supervisor
Requirements

- 0 2 years of experience in hospital pharmacy setting
- License for practice as per regional health regulatory authority (e.g., SCFHS/DHA)
- Good command of oral and written English

Job Purpose
- Dispenses medications ordered by privileged physicians while observing at all times highest standards of safety and quality and ensuring prompt seamless process that is conducive to highest patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities And Duties
- Reviews, interprets, clarifies doctor’s medications orders and verifies all orders doses, duration and checks for potential drug to drug interaction and clinical indication. Communicates with ordering doctor in case of any ambiguity or concern.
- Oversees the preparation of the verified medications, performs double checking and review of proper labeling for the prepared medications and then dispenses.
- Calculates the amount of the drug product to dispense for a prescription based upon body weight and patient age.
- Performs computer entry of outside prescriptions or orders into CPOE of Fakeeh Care HIS before dispensing.
- Ensures prompt and timely calling of patients to dispensing windows and aims at reducing patients waiting time to the minimum possible.
- Counsels the patients and caregivers on the proper & safe use of medication, storage, and interactions, etc.
- Follows all medication safety procedures when dispensing medications.
- Maintains inventory control & security of all drugs, record keeping and secured storage of narcotics and controlled medications.
- Identifies and appropriately handles the nearly expired medications according to Fakeeh Care policies and NEVER dispenses a medication beyond its expiry date.
- Properly completes charging of patients for dispensed medications.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper storage & handling of hazardous materials found in her/him workplace, as well as first aid measures necessary for accidental exposure.
- Demonstrates knowledge & skills in utilizing formulary, identifications of generic substitution, indication and the role of deductible limits and application of prescription quantity limitations.
Requirements
- Skills and Abilities: Competent computer skills with software applications to include Microsoft Word, Excel. Actively strive to upgrade professional skills through engaging in appropriate professional training and experience.
- Experience: 0 – 2 years of experience in hospital pharmacy setting.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree of Pharmacy.
- Language: Good command of oral and written English.
- Licenses / Certifications: License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority e.g. (SCFHS / DHA).
