Key skills for this role
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Photonics, or a related field. A Master’s or PhD is an asset.
Strong foundation in optics and optical system design, including lens design, ray tracing, and optical components.
Hands-on experience building, aligning, testing, or characterizing optical systems.
Experience with MATLAB, Python, and/or C++ for analysis, modelling, calibration, or automated testing.
Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working through complex technical challenges.
Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines.
Well developed written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working in an environment where designs and priorities evolve as new information becomes available .
Experience working with Zemax OpticStudio, FRED, TracePro, or similar optical design and ray-tracing tools.
Experience with opto-mechanical design and optical tolerancing.
Experience developing calibration or automated optical test systems.
Experience taking optical systems from prototype through integration, validation, or production.
Experience with display, imaging, projection, or other complex optical systems.
