Be enrolled in a post-secondary institution and available from May to August.
Be legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian Citizenship, Permanent residency, or a valid work permit.
Complete a Medical and/or Alcohol and Drug test if the role is considered safety-sensitive.
Submit a cover letter (answering “Why do you want to work for SECURE?” and “How does this position fit with your career goals?”) and recent transcripts.
The Operator Student provides operational support to SECURE facilities in the Lloydminster area while gaining hands-on experience in oilfield waste management, waste and oil treatment, water clarification, and water injection operations.
The role supports day-to-day plant operations and increased seasonal requirements, with a particular focus on leachate management, stormwater pond management, vegetation control, and vacation coverage . Working alongside experienced Operators, the student will develop practical knowledge of facility processes, safe operating practices, equipment, and customer service requirements.
Based on the student’s capabilities and development throughout the work term, there may also be opportunities to work with the Manager and Supervisor to gain exposure to the financial and business aspects of facility operations. The position is intended to provide meaningful operational experience while developing potential talent for future employment opportunities within SECURE.

The Operator Student works closely with Operators, Supervisors, and Facility Management across the Lloydminster area.
The environment is hands-on and operationally focused, with experienced team members providing training, direction, and mentorship as the student develops their understanding of facility processes. The student will be expected to contribute to daily operational priorities while demonstrating initiative, adaptability, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
As the student develops, there may be opportunities for broader exposure to facility leadership and the business side of operations, including operational planning and financial considerations. The experience is intended to build a well-rounded understanding of SECURE’s operations and provide a foundation for potential future opportunities within the organization.
This role is based at SECURE's industrial operations in the Lloydminster area and involves supporting oilfield waste management, treatment, water clarification, and water injection activities. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may require working in varying weather conditions while interacting with industrial equipment, trucks, pumps, chemicals, and other operational assets. This is a physically active, safety-sensitive position that requires strict adherence to SECURE's health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Support the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of waste treatment, oil treatment, water clarification, and water injection activities.
Provide additional operational support for seasonal requirements, with a key focus on leachate management.
Assist with stormwater pond management, vegetation control, and other summer maintenance activities.
Provide operational coverage and support during employee vacation periods.
Assist with truck unloading activities, including oil emulsion, water, and vacuum trucks, and complete associated documentation.
Support ongoing water injection activities, filter changes, and basic pump maintenance.
Assist with boiler operations, testing, and steam system activities as trained and authorized.
Complete daily, weekly, and monthly plant inspections and checks.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), permitting requirements, hazard assessments, and established safety processes.
Support the timely completion of required safety and operational documentation.
Perform general housekeeping and cleaning to maintain a safe and organized facility.
Interact professionally with customers and support a high level of customer service.
Work alongside experienced Operators to build practical knowledge of oilfield waste management and facility operations.
Participate in additional operational projects and assignments based on business requirements and individual skill level.
Gain exposure, where appropriate, to operational planning and the financial aspects of the business through interaction with the Manager and Supervisor.
High School Diploma, General Education Diploma, or equivalent.
Valid and acceptable Driver’s Licence.
Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment testing.
Valid and current safety certifications as required for the position, which may include H2S Alive, First Aid, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS, and TDG.
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established operating and safety procedures.
Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with customers.
Willingness and ability to learn plant processes, equipment, and operating procedures.
Ability to take direction, work effectively under supervision, and progressively develop greater independence.
Ability to perform physically demanding work and meet the physical requirements associated with plant operations.
Reliable transportation and ability to work at SECURE facilities within the Lloydminster area.
