Key skills for this role
Plug is an automotive fintech startup building the marketplace for electric vehicles. Consumers, dealers, and commercial partners trade in, sell, and auction used EVs through a platform built exclusively for electric, with nothing adapted from legacy automotive.
Consumers can get an instant cash offer in minutes, backed by data-driven pricing, battery state-of-health analysis, with pickup, payment, and title transfer handled end-to-end. Franchise and independent dealers across the United States bid in real time on inventory sourced directly from these consumers, dealers, and commercial partners. The result is a single platform that gives sellers a fast, fair exit and gives dealers a dedicated channel for sourcing used EV inventory.
Founded in 2023 and led by former Tesla executives, Plug has facilitated $100M in EV sales since launch and is backed by a $20M Series A from Lightspeed Venture Partners. We're building the most AI-native startup team in Los Angeles, full of operators, engineers, and ML researchers laying the transaction rails for the used EV market's exponential growth.

More from this employer
Plug's Operations team helps keep the marketplace running smoothly, from the moment a vehicle enters our system to the moment it's paid for, delivered, and closed out. Payments, building listings, logistics, and commercial intake all move through a small team that owns the full lifecycle, plus the customer-facing work that keeps consumers, dealers, and our OEM partners moving with us. As we scale, we need someone who can operate across all of it.
As an Operations Specialist, you'll start by getting fluent in the core: building vehicle listings, supporting consumers and dealers directly, coordinating logistics from gate pass to delivery, and working with our OEM partners on intake and delivery. Once you've got the fundamentals down, you'll take on the strategic work that doesn't fit neatly into any one lane: process improvements, dashboards, and the kind of data-driven thinking that helps the business make better decisions. We're looking for someone who's already worked inside a tech company, is comfortable with ambiguity, and wants a role that pairs hands-on execution with real strategic ownership.
Own the Core Workflows
Speak directly with consumers to resolve issues and keep transactions moving
Build vehicle listings that get vehicles auction-ready quickly and accurately
Solve dealer problems, from checkout issues to other points in the transaction, so deals close smoothly
Issue gate passes, dispatch transport, and manage post-sale logistics through delivery
Support our relationships with the largest EV OEMs on intake, listing, and delivery of their vehicles
Flex Across the Business
Rotate across every function first, so you understand where and how you're needed most
Learn the full transaction lifecycle well enough to troubleshoot issues in any function
Cover for teammates during time off or volume spikes without dropping the ball
Take On Strategic Projects
Spot process gaps across the transaction lifecycle and fix them to make the team more efficient
Build dashboards in Metabase that give the business visibility into performance and support data-driven decisions
Partner cross-functionally to drive projects that move our core metrics: inventory turn time and cash conversion
5+ years in operations or strategy, ideally in a high-growth or startup environment.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
Cross-functional collaborator with experience driving alignment across Sales, Operations, Finance, and Product.
Strong communicator who’s comfortable speaking directly with consumers and dealers to resolve issues
Familiarity with workflow automation tools that scale without adding headcount.
A bias toward improving how things work, not just running the process as it exists today
Preference for candidates with experience leveraging AI tools for triage, response assistance, or operational reporting.
