Role Overview
Manage sea and air freight operations, daily workflows, operational problem-solving, cost control, supplier performance, and team leadership.
The role covers freight forwarding, transportation, customs, documentation, shipment handling, and multimodal logistics.
Operations Management
- Establish and implement SOPs, delegate tasks, prioritize urgent jobs, and ensure smooth daily operations.
- Resolve customs clearance delays, documentation issues, shipment handling problems, and other operational challenges.
- Optimize freight costs, routing, and resources while identifying cost-saving opportunities without reducing service quality.
Supplier and Performance Management
- Manage supplier relationships and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Analyze operational and financial data and provide timely performance updates to management.
- Manage transporters, shipping lines, suppliers, and logistics service providers.
Freight and Customs Knowledge
- Understand FCL, LCL, RORO, breakbulk, project cargo, import, export, transit, and multimodal transport processes.
- Understand port procedures, difficult-destination routing, cargo handling, GCC and regional clearance, and free zone formalities.
- Understand handling requirements for temperature-controlled, high-value, and oversized cargo.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in sea and air freight operations, logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or operations management.
- Proven team leadership experience and strong knowledge of shipping, transportation, customs clearance, documentation, and logistics operations.
Management and Systems Skills
- Ability to manage teams, set KPIs, improve operational performance, and implement SOPs.
- Strong skills in cost control, budgeting, supplier management, and cost-saving analysis.
- Ability to analyze operational and financial data, prepare reports, and provide recommendations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and logistics or ERP systems.
Additional Requirements
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Valid driving license.
- UAE logistics experience and knowledge of local customs and transportation procedures are advantageous.
