Operations and Transport Responsibilities
- Manage trucks, trailers, cross-border transportation, and special cargo requirements.
- Plan routes for normal, out-of-gauge, sensitive, and special cargo while identifying permits and challenges.
- Source reliable trucks, drivers, transport companies, and brokers at competitive rates.
- Build and maintain transport-provider relationships and a reliable driver network.
- Monitor the operations team, allocate tasks, and coordinate with Sales on transportation activities.
- Supervise and develop staff, set KPIs, conduct evaluations, and promote accountability.
- Establish SOPs, delegate tasks, prioritize urgent jobs, and manage daily operations.
- Resolve customs clearance delays, documentation issues, shipment handling problems, and other operational challenges.
- Optimize freight costs, routing, and resources while identifying savings opportunities.
- Manage supplier performance and provide management with operational and financial updates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in land-freight operations, logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or operations management.
- Proven team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of shipping, transportation, customs clearance, documentation, and logistics operations.
- Ability to manage teams, set KPIs, improve performance, and implement SOPs.
- Strong skills in cost control, budgeting, supplier management, and cost-saving analysis.
- Ability to analyze operational and financial data and provide management recommendations.
- Experience managing transporters, shipping lines, suppliers, and logistics service providers.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and logistics or ERP systems.
- UAE logistics experience and local customs knowledge are advantageous.
- Valid driving license.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and negotiation skills.
Preferred and Required Experience
- Land-freight operations experience of 7 years is required.
- UAE logistics experience and knowledge of local customs and transportation procedures are advantageous.
