Hours per Week: 35 Salary Grade: 15

The base salary will be $71,970 - $102,690 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

Please note, this position is a 2-year temporary full-time contract opportunity that is wholly grant funded.

About Us

The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Food and Nutrition Sciences, and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, four Research Centres. The faculty has approximately 5500 undergraduate students and more than 2000 Graduate students (250 PhD students).

Responsibilities

  • The Operations Manager, CARE Hub will provide operational leadership, administration, and continuous improvement for shared research facilities within the Faculty of Health Sciences. These facilities include specialized laboratories, core research equipment, research equipment platforms, research support spaces, other shared research infrastructure that support faculty, staff, students, and external research partners.
  • The Operations Manager, CARE Hub ensures the efficient, safe, and financially sustainable operation of core facilities by overseeing equipment use, facility access, service delivery, budgeting, resource planning, regulatory compliance, and constituency engagement. Working closely with researchers, facility staff, administration, and external partners, the role supports the faculty’s strategic directions and goals in research by maximizing the accessibility, quality, and impact of shared research resources.

Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Master's degree in Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Research Administration, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean, Six Sigma, or related certification preferred
  • Experience:
  • 5 years’ progressive experience in managing research operations, laboratory facilities, core facilities, or complex technical environments
  • Experience overseeing budgets, service operations, and research infrastructure
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience
  • Experience with project management, operational planning, and process improvement
  • Experience working within a university, academic health sciences centre, hospital research institute, or health research organization preferred
  • Experience supporting infrastructure grants and major equipment acquisition projects preferred
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary research facilities and specialized scientific instrumentation preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of health sciences research environments and shared research facility operations
  • Knowledge of research infrastructure management and regulatory compliance
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
