This position is at the Springbank campus within the flight operations of the airport, and the majority of the work is done at Springbank with minimal requirement to work at the main campus. The employee will provide coordination support to the aviation program in general, and to three areas specifically. These include Aviation Program Operations, Aircraft Maintenance, and Scheduling. This position supports all these functions and the individual in this role will assist with work that is completed by various other individuals/departments.
The work schedule will require one weekend day and requires a start time of 7:00 am or 7:30 a.m.
A minimum of two days a week will focus on Scheduling when the full-time Scheduler is on days off. Management of the schedule is on-going, as changes in the schedule occur daily due to maintenance, weather, and student progress. This constant change requires adaptability and flexibility in planning and ongoing revisions. Communication with administrative and maintenance staff is required to ensure accurate information flow to keep up to date with relevant scheduling information.
Mount Royal University’s Aviation diploma program has been in operation since 1970, and the Bachelor of Aviation Management began in 2024. The program has a strong reputation within the aviation industry across Canada. The department is part of the Faculty of Business, Communication Studies and Aviation. Students enrolled in the flight training fly out of MRU's Springbank campus, using a fleet of thirteen aircraft and six simulators. Flight students graduate with a Commercial Pilot Licence and Group 1 Instrument Rating.
