Education

Graduate from an approved School of Nursing. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is desired.

Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program is required.

Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).

Possession of, and ability to maintain current registration as RN (NP) with Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association.

Current BCLS certification.

Experience

Requires a minimum of three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse in primary care, public health or acute care.

Requires a minimum of one (1) year recent experience in community needs assessment, community development and health promotion.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates leadership, confidence and autonomy in the RN(NP) role. Demonstrates knowledge of community services, programs and resources. Knowledge of health promotion and population health principles and concepts. Knowledge of common medical conditions and treatments. Demonstrates ability to assess the community for primary health care needs. Demonstrates ability to recognize the need for holistic care to individuals, groups, families and the community. Demonstrates responsible decision making ability through the application of critical thinking. Demonstrates effective and professional verbal and non-verbal communication techniques. Demonstrates organizational capacity to plan, implement and evaluate multiple assessments, projects and deadlines. Demonstrates capacity to work closely with multiple physicians. Demonstrates ability to show initiative and self-direction. Demonstrates teaching, educational and facilitation skills. Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change. Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care. Strong assessment and counseling skills. Ability to apply methods and principles of nursing process

Other Information

Must possess a valid Saskatchewan driver's license. Some assignments may require access to a vehicle for work purposes.

This is a community based position providing services in clinic and home settings. Travel required to various community sites within the Primary Health Care Networks (Regina). Home base for this position is: Wascana Rehabilitation Centre 2180 - 23rd Avenue
