Position # : 087793 Expected Start Date: September 21, 2026 Union: SUN Facility: Weyburn Community Health Services Building City/Town: Weyburn Department: Mental Health Community Clinics&Programs Type: Full-time temporary Expected Up to Date: March 05, 2027 FTE: 1 Shift Information: Days Number of Hours per Rotation: 224 hours per 6 weeks Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: Field Hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Nurse B $42.040 to $52.440 Travel Required: Yes Job Description: The Community Mental Health Nurse (CMHN), reporting to the Manager of Mental Health & Addiction Services, is an essential element in a comprehensive Mental Health Service. The CMHN has extensive knowledge of the evidence based principles and practices of Community Health Nursing. A large portion of the CMHN's work is based outside of the clinic working independently. Each skilled CMHN is expected to monitor and administer medication, assess clinical status, provide case management, develop behavioral treatment programs, provide coverage for other recovery services team members, provide counselling and education and provide various forms of psychotherapy, including individual, family and group therapy. A CMHN provides health promotion, education and early intervention/prevention to the communities they work in. This position works in an integrated manner with other mental health and addiction programs. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience 2 years of recent RN/RPN experience in acute psychiatric or community psychiatry Education Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN) Licenses Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS) Other Education and Training Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable Bachelor of Nursing is acceptable Nursing diploma is acceptable Competencies Advanced - Organizational skills Advanced - Time management skills Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge in principles, programs and practices in community mental health care Demonstrates flexibility by adjusting workload to accommodate client needs. Ability to exercise independent nursing judgement Advance computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Access). Demonstrated working knowledge in the area of psychopharmacology Knowledge in the area of management of complex clients and psychogeriatric Ability to plan/organize/coordinate with other multidisciplinary team members Proven ability to cope well with sustained work related emotional pressure Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide relevant educational services Ability to develop and deliver formal education programs Ability to adapt to ever changing environments Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Demonstrated working knowledge in the area of psychosocial rehabilitation Demonstrated working knowledge in the area of recovery model Knowledge of psychiatric nursing clinical standards of practice Ability to utilize evidence-based practice Development & compliance of clinical standards in community mentalhealth setting Ability to communicate client assessments and articulate outcomes Ability to prioritize and be flexible Ability to implement a specialized therapeutic program and consultative services Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act/related legislation Uses critical analysis, reflective practice and assessment.
