Network Technician

Role overview

Network systems delivery

• Install, maintain, and repair UTP, FOC, multi-core, and LAN cabling solutions.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on existing cabling infrastructure.
• Operate network cabling tools, equipment, and materials for installation and troubleshooting.
• Conduct site inspections and prepare reports and Bills of Quantities for projects.
• Maintain inventory of network components and required installation materials.
• Design and deploy cabling overlays for special events and large-scale functions.
• Prepare and maintain network drawings and patching matrices.
• Mount and patch active devices, perform patch management, and provide remote support.

Communication and documentation

• Communicate technical information effectively to technical and non-technical clients and colleagues.
• Maintain technical documentation, site inspection reports, Bills of Quantities, and troubleshooting logs.
• Manage inventory records and prepare network performance reports.
• Collaborate with team members by communicating progress and project obstacles.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of IT support experience with customer-facing responsibilities.
• At least 2 to 3 years in a directly comparable role with similar duties.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering specializing in Computer Science or Electronics and Communication.
• Relevant professional IT certification, such as CISA or an equivalent certification.
• Expertise in UTP, FOC, multi-core, and LAN cabling installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Experience mounting and patching active devices onto passive network infrastructure.
• Skill using passive network tools such as cable testers, crimpers, and Fluke testers.
• Ability to design network cabling layouts and perform site inspections with associated reports and BOQs.
