Role Summary

  • We are seeking a highly capable and hands on Network Administrator to join our IT team.
  • The ideal candidate brings solid practical experience across Windows Server environments, cloud infrastructure, physical data centre operations, surveillance systems, and storage — and is equally comfortable drafting a policy document as they are pulling a cable through a server rack.
  • This is a key infrastructure role requiring both technical depth and an ownership mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Windows Server Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 environments.
  • Manage Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, DHCP, and WSUS.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 / Azure AD hybrid environments.
  • Monitor server performance, event logs, and ensure uptime SLAs are met.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and role based access control (RBAC).
  • Patch management, scheduled maintenance windows, and OS hardening.
  • Backup Management & Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and maintain backup policies using tools such as Veeam, Acronis, or equivalent.
  • Manage full, incremental, and differential backup schedules across physical and virtual systems.
  • Test and validate restore procedures on a regular basis — ensuring RTO/RPO targets are met.
  • Maintain offsite/cloud backup copies and ensure encryption compliance.
  • Document DR plans and lead or support annual DR drills.
  • Server Rack & Data Centre Management: Physical installation, labelling, and management of servers, switches, patch panels, and PDUs in racks.

Core Technical Skills

  • Operating Systems & Virtualisation: Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Hyper V, Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS/RHEL) basic to intermediate, Docker/containerisation basics, VMware vSphere/ESXi, Proxmox or similar hypervisor (advantageous).
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch), Cloudflare (DNS, CDN, WAF), Microsoft Azure (VMs, Azure AD, Monitor), cPanel/WHM, Google Cloud Platform (basic familiarity), VPS management (DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode).
  • Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, QoS, STP, Wi Fi deployment (802.11ac/ax, WPA2/3), Firewall configuration & rule management, BGP/OSPF basics (advantageous), VPN — IPSec, SSL, OpenVPN, SD WAN familiarity (advantageous).
  • Security: Endpoint protection & antivirus management, MFA/identity and access management, Firewall policy hardening & auditing, Log analysis & SIEM (Splunk, Elastic, etc.), Vulnerability scanning (Nessus, OpenVAS), Email security (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
  • Tools & Platforms: Helpdesk & ticketing (Jira, Freshdesk, ManageEngine), Microsoft 365 Admin Centre, Remote support tools (AnyDesk, TeamViewer, RDP), PowerShell scripting for automation, Documentation (Confluence, SharePoint, Notion), Bash/Shell scripting (basic to intermediate).

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of hands on experience in a network/systems administration role.
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows Server, cloud infrastructure, and physical networking.
  • Preferred: CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA or equivalent, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ 104), AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS SysOps Administrator, VMware VCP (vSphere) or similar, ITIL Foundation certification.

  • Server and network documentation kept current at all times.
  • Zero security incidents attributable to unpatched systems or misconfigured access.
  • Surveillance system uptime and retention compliance maintained at 100%.
