About the Role

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage medical conditions affecting newborns, including premature and critically ill infants
- Provide comprehensive care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), and newborn nursery
- Attend high risk deliveries and provide immediate neonatal resuscitation and stabilization
- Perform neonatal procedures, including intubation, umbilical catheterization, lumbar puncture, and exchange transfusion
- Monitor and manage ventilated neonates and critically ill newborns
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals
- Counsel and educate parents regarding neonatal conditions, treatment plans, and follow up care
- Maintain accurate medical records and clinical documentation
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality meetings, and CME
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and Oman Ministry of Health regulations
- Participate in on call duties and emergency neonatal coverage as per hospital requirements
Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution
- MD, DNB, Arab Board, MRCPCH, Fellowship in Neonatology, or equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification
- Eligibility for or possession of a valid Oman Ministry of Health (MoH) license
- Minimum 5 8 years of post specialization experience in Neonatology, preferably in a tertiary care hospital with NICU experience
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is preferred
- Strong clinical, diagnostic, and critical care skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities
