The Town of Smithfield is looking for a creative, detail-oriented Museum Curator to help preserve meaningful stories, care for important collections, and connect the community with its history. If you enjoy research, storytelling, public programs, and hands-on exhibit work, this is an opportunity to make history engaging for visitors of all ages. WHAT YOU WILL DO • Care for, document, research, and exhibit museum collections and artifacts. • Develop displays, online exhibits, lectures, educational programs, special events, and community outreach. • Support historic sites, respond to research inquiries, and work with donors, lenders, schools, community groups, and the public. • Use social media, websites, and video to help share local history in fresh and accessible ways. WHAT YOU BRING • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. • One (1) to three (3) years of related experience and a working knowledge of museum operations. • Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. • Experience presenting lectures or programs; experience with PastPerfect or similar museum software is preferred. • Flexibility to work occasional weekends and other flexible hours.
