Senior Mep Design Manager

Design & Technical Management

• Review and manage MEP design packages through all project stages from concept to IFC documentation.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, project briefs, Saudi codes, authority regulations, and international standards.
• Lead technical reviews of consultant submissions, calculations, specifications, drawings, reports, and equipment schedules.
• Coordinate interfaces between MEP disciplines, architecture, structure, infrastructure, landscape, and specialist systems.
• Identify design risks, clashes, operational conflicts, and technical inconsistencies and drive resolution strategies.
• Support value engineering initiatives while maintaining technical integrity, operational functionality, sustainability, and design intent.
• Review energy efficiency strategies, sustainability objectives, and operational performance requirements.
• Monitor consultant deliverables, design progress, and programme milestones against contractual obligations.

Contract & Commercial Design Management

• Review consultant and contractor obligations relating to MEP technical scope and design deliverables.
• Administer design-related contractual processes including RFIs, technical submittals, deviations, change management, and design approvals.
• Assess contractor proposals, shop drawing strategies, method statements, and technical submissions for compliance.
• Support commercial teams in evaluating design-related variations, claims, procurement risks, and technical disputes.
• Ensure all MEP documentation aligns with contractual requirements and project execution strategies.

Materials, Systems & Procurement Strategy

• Review procurement strategies for major MEP systems and long-lead equipment.
• Assess material and equipment specifications for performance, durability, maintainability, sustainability, and operational suitability.
• Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams regarding design-driven equipment requirements and delivery sequencing.
• Support strategic planning for phased delivery, modular systems, prefabrication, and off-site manufacturing integration.
• Evaluate alternative systems and technical solutions to mitigate programme, procurement, and operational risks.

Stakeholder & Coordination Management

• Act as a senior technical liaison between client representatives, consultants, contractors, operators, and specialist suppliers.
• Lead MEP coordination workshops, technical review meetings, and multidisciplinary interface discussions.
• Prepare executive-level technical reports, presentations, risk assessments, and design status updates.
• Ensure alignment between project vision, operational requirements, sustainability objectives, and technical implementation strategies.
• Support senior leadership in strategic planning and technical decision-making across project packages.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in MEP design management, technical review, or contract design management.
• Previous experience on large-scale mixed-use, hospitality, entertainment, infrastructure, aviation, healthcare, or giga-project developments.
• Strong knowledge of international MEP standards, Saudi codes, technical specifications, procurement processes, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience working for consultancies, PMCs, developers, or international contractors.
• Understanding of material procurement, supply chain coordination, commissioning strategies, and technical compliance processes.
• Experience in the Middle East and familiarity with major Saudi developments is highly desirable.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Revit, BIM platforms, Navisworks, design management systems, and common industry software.

Preferred Background

• Experience working on complex masterplan or giga-project developments.
• Background in hospitality, entertainment, sports, cultural, healthcare, or mixed-use developments.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary consultants and specialist contractors.
• Familiarity with smart building systems, sustainability frameworks, and high-performance building strategies.
• Membership of a recognised professional body (CIBSE, ASHRAE, PMP, CIOB, IEEE, etc.) is advantageous.
