The MEDITECH Integration & Data Extraction Specialist serves as the primary technical expert responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines that connect MEDITECH Magic and MEDITECH Client/Server (CS) electronic health record platforms to downstream analytics, reporting, and enterprise systems.
This role requires deep knowledge of MEDITECH's native data structures, integration interfaces, and extraction methodologies to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant healthcare data in support of clinical, operational, and regulatory objectives.
Design and implement end-to-end integration solutions for both MEDITECH Magic and MEDITECH CS/Expanse platforms
Configure and manage HL7 v2.x interfaces (ADT, ORM, ORU, MDM, DFT) using MEDITECH's Interface Engine and third-party middleware such as Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, or Microsoft BizTalk
Capable to extract data directly from the Database Application, provide the data as SQL backup. Ensure real-time synchronization to capture CRUD operation.
Nice to have – knowledge of an be able to Develop and maintain MEDITECH Magic BAR (Billing/Accounts Receivable), NPR (Non-Patient Reporting), and MAGIC-specific data extraction routines
Build integration leveraging MEDITECH CS FHIR R4 APIs, REST web services, and the Expanse Integration Platform
Troubleshoot and resolve interface failures, data mismatches, and connectivity issues across system environments
Extract clinical and administrative data from MEDITECH Magic's proprietary file system and MEDITECH CS's relational database layer (MS SQL Server)
Be able to extract data directly from the database Application, with ability to capture real-time synchronizations.

Be able to extract the Discrete data as well as the Report/documents.
Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL pipelines to pull structured data from MEDITECH data warehouses including Data Repository (DR) and MEDITECH's Expanse Data Repository (EDR)
Transform raw Data into MS SQL Server backup, capable of handling the CRUD operations.

Design data quality validation routines to ensure accuracy, completeness, and referential integrity of extracted datasets
Develop custom reports and extracts using MEDITECH's built-in reporting tools (NPR, BAR Report Writer)
Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on experience with MEDITECH Magic (specifically NPR, BAR, LAB, PHA, and ADM modules)
3+ years of experience with MEDITECH Client/Server (CS) or MEDITECH Expanse, including its SQL-accessible Data Repository
Demonstrated experience reading, writing, and debugging MUMPS (Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi-Programming System) / M language as used within the MEDITECH Magic environment
Proficiency navigating and extracting data from MEDITECH Magic’s proprietary hierarchical folder and global file structures, including DPT (patient), MIS, DR, and module-specific global namespaces
Strong working knowledge of relational database concepts including normalization, indexing, joins, foreign keys, and schema design, with hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server for MEDITECH CS data repository queries
Demonstrated experience developing and supporting HL7 v2.x interfaces in a healthcare environment
Proficiency in SQL Server T-SQL for complex querying, stored procedures, and performance tuning against MEDITECH CS/Expanse Data Repository schemas
Working experience with at least one ETL/integration tool (SSIS, Informatica, Mirth Connect, or equivalent)
Technical Skills
MUMPS / M Language — Reading and writing MUMPS routines for MEDITECH Magic data access; understanding of global variable storage, subscript navigation, and routine execution within the Magic environment
MEDITECH Magic File Structures — In-depth knowledge of Magic’s proprietary hierarchical globals and folder architecture (DPT, BAR, LAB, PHA, MIS, DR namespaces); ability to traverse, interpret, and extract data from non-relational global trees
Relational Databases — Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, stored procedures, views, indexing, query optimization); understanding of MEDITECH CS/Expanse relational schema design and cross-module table relationships
MEDITECH Magic — NPR programming, BAR extract routines, MAGIC file structures (DPT, MIS, DR)
MEDITECH CS/Expanse — Expanse Data Repository, FHIR R4 APIs, Web Services, EDR schema
Interface Standards — HL7 v2.x, FHIR R4, CDA/C-CDA, X12 EDI
Data Formats — XML, JSON, CSV, pipe-delimited; XPath/XSLT transformation
Healthcare Terminology — ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, NPI
