Role Overview

Mechanical Commissioning and Testing

• Lead end-to-end commissioning of chilled water, condenser water, chillers, cooling towers, CRAH and CRAC units, AHUs, FCUs, pressurisation systems, pumps, valves, and controls.
• Develop mechanical IST strategies and scripts aligned with Uptime Institute methodology.
• Lead failure mode testing, N, N+1, and 2N redundancy validation, and fault-tolerance demonstrations.
• Plan and witness FAT and SAT for major mechanical plant.
• Lead functional performance testing under normal, degraded, and failure conditions.

Design, Controls, and Coordination

• Perform design reviews for commissionability, maintainability, and availability across project stages.
• Review mechanical specifications, P&IDs, control philosophies, and vendor technical submittals.
• Validate BMS and EPMS integration, including alarms, trending, interlocks, sequences, and automated responses.
• Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, MEP contractors, OEMs, clients, and electrical and IT commissioning teams.

Documentation and Compliance

• Develop commissioning plans, execution strategies, test scripts, procedures, checklists, issue logs, punch lists, risk registers, reports, and systems manuals.
• Support client handover and transition to steady-state operations.
• Ensure compliance with Uptime Institute Tier Standards, ASHRAE standards, and local mechanical and environmental codes.
• Support LEED or equivalent sustainability objectives where applicable.
• Identify and resolve mechanical deficiencies and mitigate risks to uptime, safety, schedule, and operational performance.
• Enforce HSE compliance through RAMS reviews, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.

Qualifications and Experience

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, such as B.Tech, B.E., or equivalent, is essential.
• The role requires 10+ years of mechanical testing and commissioning experience.
• At least five years of commissioning experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities is required.
• Candidates must demonstrate leadership of mechanical IST activities and technical quality responsibility across multiple projects.
• Deep expertise is required in data center cooling architectures, redundancy strategies, hydronic balancing, TAB, performance optimization, and failure mode and effects testing.

Tools and Platforms

• Experience with BMS, EPMS, and digital commissioning platforms is required.
• AutoCAD, BIM, and Visio experience is listed as relevant tooling.
• Cloud platform exposure across Google, Microsoft, or Amazon and data analytics experience are advantageous.
• Familiarity with RIBA, AIA, or international equivalent work stages is advantageous.
• Experience with FDD and automated commissioning systems is advantageous.
