Job Purpose

  • Provide maintenance oversight on mechanical systems and components to ensure plant safety and reliability. Oversee mechanical maintenance work teams performing mechanical and mechanical related maintenance work to deliver high quality maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Key Activities, Responsibility & Accountability

  • Provide training feedback on program effectiveness with evaluation of performance to ensure quality of training and qualification program.
  • Support outage and/or the ERO, as assigned, to ensure safe, reliable and continued operations; this may require shift work/off hours support.
  • Provide input into the development of the Department’s systems and processes, as well develop, and implement the Section’s procedures.
  • Monitor, control and report Operational and financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the Section.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures, and instructions.
  • Ensure the compliance with Business Continuity and Resilience requirements.
  • Manage the effective achievement of the Organization’s objectives by setting individual targets, developing, and motivating staff.
  • Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy.
  • Ensure commitment to a culture of continuous improvement by eliminating waste, following operations procedures, practicing innovation, problem solving, and teamwork.

Mechanical Maintenance

  • Oversee mechanical maintenance to ensure all job tasks are performed in a timely manner and with quality to achieve operational readiness and to operate with the highest level of safety and reliability.
  • Review the mechanical maintenance programs and procedures and oversee their implementation to ensure their success.
  • Monitor the performance of the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) mechanical equipment, specifically reactor, steam generators, fuel handling facilities, HVAC, heat exchangers, pumps, Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG), AAC Diesel Generator (DG), cranes & hoists, valves, chillers, hangers & supports,
  • Monitor the performance of the Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment, including pumps, valves, intake, radwaste equipment, chillers, HVAC, compressors, engines, etc.
  • Monitor short term outage and prepare outage activity list to ensure plant downtime is optimized during outages.
  • Prepare and plan procurement requests for equipment spare parts and special tools to ensure mechanical maintenance activities are properly resourced.
  • Develop documents related to installation and service contracts to retain information relevant to those contracts.
  • Conduct periodic and surveillance tests to confirm plant mechanical system performance or identify deficiencies.
  • Provide technical support for other station groups to diffuse technical knowledge throughout the organization.
  • Validate the updates to equipment and material master data within the material management system.
  • Prepare for WANO, INPO, and IAEA pre start up peer reviews to ensure alignment with industrial best practices.
  • Lead the troubleshooting process on the mechanical systems and components to ensure issues are resolved correctly and in a timely manner.

Staff Training and Qualification

  • Critically evaluate performance of individual staff to develop necessary training.
  • Relay management expectations on the Conduct of Maintenance and communicate with the Section to ensure high level of safety and reliability of plant systems.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and consult with training staff to improve training effectiveness.
  • Verify training programs provide necessary technical knowledge and skills to ensure staff are properly trained and qualified to conduct assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 6 years of relevant experience, out of which: 2 years Power Plant Experience, 1 year Nuclear Power Plant Experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering (preferred).
  • APR 1400 or OPR 1000 maintenance and engineering experience (preferred).
  • 1 year of experience in a Managerial role (preferred).
