Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer performs forensic assignments, investigates incidents, analyzes mechanical failures, and provides expert opinions.
The role involves office work and outside incident sites, with up to 25% overnight travel.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform forensic assignments within mechanical engineering expertise according to an agreed scope and budget.
- Investigate incidents and determine whether mechanical equipment failure caused them.
- Inspect sites, products, and equipment and perform engineering analyses and calculations.
- Analyze equipment and machinery design and failure, industrial incidents, product liability, and materials.
- Prepare reports documenting analyses, losses, repair scopes, and remediation recommendations.
- Provide expert opinions and testimony in depositions and trials when required.
- Manage multiple projects and work with other experts.
- Take technical photographs, document site conditions, oversee testing, and review documentation.
- Develop client relationships and respond to internal and external client inquiries.
