Educational Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Technical Certificate in Drafting from a recognized institution.
  • Training in AutoCAD or Revit MEP drafting (mandatory).

• AutoCAD And Revit MEP Professional Certification

  • ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System awareness (preferable).
  • DCD / DM drafting standards knowledge (advantage).

Experience

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in preparing detailed MEP shop drawings for large-scale commercial, residential, industrial, and hospitality projects.
  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of GCC experience, preferably in the UAE.
  • Strong background in drafting HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems in accordance with international standards and authority requirements.

Computer Software Proficiency

  • Proficient in AutoCAD (2D/3D) for MEP drafting and coordination layouts.
  • Knowledge of Revit MEP for BIM modeling and coordination (preferred).
  • Familiar with Navisworks for clash detection and coordination.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed MEP shop drawings for HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems based on design drawings and project specifications.
  • Develop coordinated services drawings ensuring no clashes between MEP, architectural, and structural elements.
  • Generate builders’ work drawings and sections for openings, sleeves, and penetrations required for mechanical installations.
  • Prepare fabrication drawings for ductwork, pipework, and mechanical supports as per SMACNA and ASHRAE standards.
  • Update drawings as per site modifications and prepare accurate as-built drawings for project closeout.
  • Coordinate with engineers and site supervisors to ensure drawings reflect actual site conditions and construction feasibility.
  • Prepare schematic diagrams, legends, and single-line layouts for HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting systems.
  • Ensure drawings comply with local authority standards such as Municipality, DCD, ADCD and DEWA / TAQA requirements.
  • Maintain drawing control and revision logs in coordination with the Document Controller.
  • Incorporate consultant comments and re-submit revised drawings for approval as per project protocols.
  • Collaborate with other discipline draftsmen (electrical, civil, architectural) to ensure complete coordination of services.
  • Assist in the preparation of quantity take-offs and bill of materials (BOM) from drawings.
  • Support engineers during technical meetings and provide drawing-related inputs when required.
  • Maintain organized drawing files and ensure that all revisions are traceable and up to date.
  • Adhere to company CAD standards, layer management, and drafting quality procedures.
  • Ensure timely submission of drawings in line with the project schedule and design milestones.
