Job Summary
- Seeking a Database Engineer to provide technical expertise in database design, development, implementation, administration, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis
- The successful candidate will support database engineering throughout the system development lifecycle, from requirements definition and architecture through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC)
- This role requires strong Oracle database administration experience, Linux expertise, and the ability to design and optimize database solutions that balance performance, security, scalability, retention, and mission requirements
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain relational and/or object-oriented databases
- Develop database parser software, database loading tools, scripts, and supporting utilities
- Define and document database requirements from project inception through system acceptance and IOC
- Develop database structures that align with overall system architecture and mission requirements
- Evaluate and balance database design considerations including data volumes, user loads, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention requirements, security, and domain controls
- Project long-range database administration, capacity, performance, and design requirements
