KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of mathematics foundations (arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics) necessary for success in associates degrees and certificate level career and technical programs and courses.
- Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software, databases, and electronic communications.
- Proficiency with graphing calculators.
- Excellent communication and strong listening skills
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
- Analytic problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Patience, flexibility, ability to vary teaching methods and resources according to student needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend hours.
- Demonstrated math teaching and/or tutorial experience at the high school or two-year college level.
- Demonstrated understanding of the pedagogical principles in working with adult learners and underserved populations. Experience working with adult learners and underserved populations.
- Experience with learning management systems such as Canvas or Blackboard.
Additional Considerations
Experience in a community college setting.
Experience with scheduling and tutor administration software such as Navigate and Brainfuse.
Experience with math instructional systems such as My Math Lab.
