Role Overview
The Material Handler is a shift-based role responsible for safe and efficient movement, storage, and handling of materials within warehouses, production lines, and staging areas.
The role coordinates material flow, inventory, system movements, and collaboration with production, logistics, quality, and external warehouse teams.
Responsibilities
- Operate material handling equipment in designated warehouse and production areas while following safety requirements.
- Maintain safety, quality, food safety, GMP-GHP, 5S, FIFO, and floor demarcation standards.
- Coordinate material movements, external warehouse schedules, truck loading and unloading, and finished-goods dispatches.
- Assign work to material handlers and equipment operators across inbound, outbound, and production movements.
- Control inventory, perform counts and traceability exercises, resolve SAP issues, and maintain accurate records.
- Escalate safety incidents, nonconformances, inventory deviations, and material abnormalities for effective closure.
- Participate in shift handovers, problem-solving meetings, Kaizen events, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- Education to GCSE level or above.
- Good verbal and written English skills.
- Experience in FMCG or factory operations is desirable.
- SAP or PDLS training or fault-finding experience is beneficial.
Systems and Practices
- Systems referenced include SAP, WMS, PDLS, PPM, and NEXUS.
- The role applies FIFO, GMP-GHP, 5S, inventory control, material traceability, and warehouse operating procedures.
Schedule
- The role is shift-based and includes participation in shift handovers and production-plan changes.
Work Environment
- Work is performed across warehouse, production, staging, and material movement areas.
