About the Role
Sharjah Maritime Academy is seeking a Maritime Lecturer in Engineering to teach marine propulsion systems, engineering management, and related subjects under STCW standards. The role involves delivering lectures, assessing students, and contributing to curriculum development.

Responsibilities
- Assist Head of STCW Program as required
- Teach a range of subjects including Marine Propulsion Systems, Engineering Management, Marine Engineering Operations, and other related topics relating to STCW III/1, STCW III/2, and STCW III/6 requirements
- Use appropriate, innovative and effective pedagogic approach in the classroom; deliver lectures and lead seminar groups
- Participate in the examination/assessment process including setting papers, preparing marking schemes, agreeing marks with other staff
- Responsible for updating own discipline knowledge to develop research informed teaching
- Ensure full compliance with the requirements of the timetable and the annual academic calendar
- Conduct research for career development, aligning with the Academy's ambition to be a research active institution
- Provide timely, constructive, formative and comprehensive feedback to students using all forms of communication
- Deliver maritime training courses as required by the Line Manager
- Be prepared to travel as required and occasionally work outside of standard working hours
- Provide structured preparation for cadets undertaking CoC oral and written examinations
- Conduct mock orals, tutorials, and exam practice for FMA Oral preparation
Requirements
- STCW Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Engineer) Unlimited
- BSc level academic qualification in engineering
- Experience of maritime education and/or training
- Thorough knowledge of STCW code
- Ability to fluently speak, write and communicate in English at the highest level of professionalism
- Team player, approachable, sensitive towards all cultures
- Work as and when required under pressure

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications
- STCW Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Engineer) Unlimited
- BSc level academic qualification in engineering
- Master's Degree will be an added advantage
- Teaching qualification
Experience
- Experience of maritime education and/ or training
- Thorough knowledge of STCW code
- Sailed as a Chief Engineer on merchant navy deep sea vessels
- Experience of working in an industry supporting seafarer
- Educational experience with leading courses/ programs, revising course content, developing new programs and courses
- Knowledge of student centred teaching and learning methodologies
