- Develop, implement, and evaluate teaching and assessment materials in Maritime Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Business, Research Methods, and Applied Research
- Teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Research Methods, Applied Research, dissertation, thesis, and capstone projects
- Set and mark coursework, examinations, and other assessment tasks with clear feedback
- Carry out independent research and contribute to collective research programmes, generating high quality outputs
- Lead in making contributions to MoHESR KPIs, including at least 2 Class A publications per year and at least 1 application for external funding in the first year
- Actively build networks with external bodies including industry employers, policymakers and charities
- Contribute to organisational and administrative tasks within SMA
Requirements
- Track record of internationally competitive independent research with leading publications in high impact academic journals in maritime logistics, supply chain management, maritime business, maritime finance and/or maritime sustainability
- At least 4 Scopus indexed papers in the last 3 years for Associate Professor; at least 7 in the last 5 years for Professor
- Track record in independent leadership in attracting grant funding
- Experience of effective teaching and supervision in higher education, including successful supervision of Master and/or PhD student(s)
- Ability to fluently speak, write and communicate in English at the highest level of professionalism

Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educationally effective teaching and assessment materials in Maritime Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Business, Research Methods, and Applied Research.
- Teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Research Methods, Applied Research, and related research methodology, dissertation, thesis, and capstone project supervision activities.
- Set and mark coursework, examinations, and other assessment tasks in a timely fashion, with clear and supportive feedback to students.
- Provide pastoral support to students at all levels of study.
- Deliver a maximum of 2 credit hours teaching per term, alongside supporting supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses for the equivalent of 1 credit hour per term.
- Hold an appropriate higher education teaching qualification e.g. FHEA or similar, or commit to undertaking such at the earliest opportunity.
- Deliver a plan for personal research over the next five years in Maritime Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Business, Maritime Finance, or related maritime disciplines.
- Carry out independent research and contribute, as a team member, to collective programmes of research.
- Lead in making direct, measurable and positive contributions to SMA's returns on the MoHESR KPIs, in particular those in Pillar #4.
- Actively build and contribute to leadership of networks of contacts with appropriate bodies external to the University.
- Secure industry collaboration and involvement in your own research and that of your Bachelor and Master students.
- Actively contribute to SMA's research themes.
Person Specification
- Track record of internationally competitive independent research and plans providing evidence of a trajectory towards international leadership.
- Leading significant publications in high impact academic journals in maritime logistics, supply chain management, maritime business, maritime finance and/or maritime sustainability.
- At least 4 Scopus indexed papers in the last 3 years, including at least 2 related to maritime business and/or maritime sustainability, for appointment at Associate Professor.
- At least 7 Scopus indexed papers in the last 5 years, including at least 4 related to maritime business and/or maritime sustainability, for appointment at Professor.
- Track record in independent leadership in attracting grant funding.
- Significant contribution to at least 3 externally funded projects, including at least 1 related to maritime business and/or maritime sustainability, for appointment at Associate Professor.
- Lead investigator on at least 3 externally funded projects, including at least 2 related to maritime business and/or maritime sustainability, for appointment at Professor.
- Experience of effective teaching and supervision in higher education, including successful supervision of Master and/or PhD student(s).
- Contribution to broader organisational and management processes.
- Ability to organise your own time and work, to meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
- Commitment to working within professional and ethical codes of conduct.
- Ability to fluently speak, write and communicate in English at the highest level of professionalism.
