Manufacturing Engineer - Data Centers

IES is seeking a licensed Production/Manufacturing Engineer to support the design, optimization, and oversight of fabrication and assembly processes within our communications infrastructure operations.

This role bridges engineering and production, ensuring that manufactured components, prefabricated assemblies, and production workflows meet quality, efficiency, and compliance standards.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on manufacturing expertise, a process improvement mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, operations, and field teams.

Process Design and Optimization Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing and production processes for communications infrastructure components and assemblies Evaluate current production workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures Support new product introduction by translating engineering designs into manufacturable production processes Apply lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste and improve throughput Collaborate with design engineering teams to ensure producibility and design-for-manufacture principles are applied Production and Field Support Provide technical support to production teams during fabrication and assembly operations Conduct floor and site visits to assess production conditions, verify process compliance, and resolve technical issues Support field teams with engineering guidance on installation of prefabricated or manufactured components Participate in project kickoff meetings, production planning reviews, and client-facing discussions as needed Assist with testing, quality inspection, and acceptance of manufactured assemblies prior to deployment Quality and Compliance Ensure all manufacturing processes and outputs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements Support quality assurance programs and root cause analysis for production nonconformances Maintain awareness of relevant industry standards and incorporate updates into production practices Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during production or field installation. Specific Qualifications Required Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution Active Professional Engineer (PE) license, required Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing or production engineering, preferably in construction, telecommunications, or infrastructure-related industries Proficiency in CAD and manufacturing design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and applicable industry standards Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and process documentation Valid driver's license and ability to travel to production facilities and project sites as required Preferred Experience with prefabrication or modular assembly for communications or electrical infrastructure Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) Familiarity with design-build project delivery and construction environments Experience with ERP or production management systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools WORKING CONDITIONS This position requires a combination of office, production facility, and field work. Assignments may involve exposure to active manufacturing and construction environments, varying physical demands, and occasional travel to project sites and fabrication facilities.
