- Oversee shutdown maintenance to ensure appropriate safety measures and minimize rig down time
- Assume sole responsibility for the rig in the event of an emergency
- Ensure compliance with company HSE MS, AIMS and regulations on assigned rig
- Oversee the catering services on assigned rig to ensure conformance to Company's standards
- Direct the work of non company personnel and organizations engaged in activities on the rig
- Monitor the cost of rig operations and ensure compliance with budgetary limits
- Establish and maintain good relations with contractor personnel located on site
Requirements
- Degree in engineering discipline preferably Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 10 years of experience
- Valid IWCF certification – Supervisory level

Job Purpose
- Supervise the operations on the assigned rig to ensure safe, environmentally friendly and timely completion of assigned drilling, work over, maintenance and repair programs.
Job Specific Accountabilities
- Supervise drilling, work over and/or completion activities on assigned rig and meeting the schedules. Ensure that drilling/completion programs are adhered to at each step of the operation.
- Plan, review and direct the receipt of materials and spares required for ongoing and contingent drilling operations on assigned rig.
- Exercise general supervision over all maintenance activities on assigned rig to ensure that all drilling equipment is in good working conditions and directs preventive and/or break down maintenance/repairs.
- Oversee shutdown maintenance to ensure that appropriate safety measures are taken and rig down time is confined to minimum levels.
- Assume sole responsibility for the rig in the event of an emergency.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE MS, AIMS and regulations on assigned rig to ensure timely execution of assigned drilling/work over/completion programs without prejudice to safety of assigned personnel, integrity of the rig, the environment, well and reservoir.
- Oversee the catering services on assigned rig to ensure conformance to Company's standard of food, hygiene and good housekeeping.
- Direct the work of non company personnel and organizations engaged in activities on the rig.
- Monitor the cost of rig operations and ensure compliance with budgetary limits. Ensure the security of capital asset items.
- Establish and maintain good relations with contractor personnel located on site.
Minimum Qualification
- Degree in engineering discipline preferably Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent supplemented by short training courses in drilling technology, safety measures, life saving and survival at sea.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- 10 years of experience
- Professional Certifications: Valid IWCF certification – Supervisory level.
Generic Accountabilities
- Plan and supervise the activities of the personnel and resources of the Section to achieve the Department objectives in an efficient and cost conscious manner.
- Develop the knowledge, competencies and innovative spirit in the Section and support the establishment of Personal Development Plans (PDP’s), Succession Planning and Talent pipeline.
- Compile and provide input for preparation of the Department budgets and regularly monitor expenditure against approved the Section budget levels.
- Lead the implementation of approved Section policies, processes, systems, standards, procedures and internal controls.
- Implement the Company Performance Management System for individuals within the Section.
- Review, develop and recommend the appropriate organisation structure for the Department.
- Encourage innovation, enhance employee motivation and support initiatives for implementation of Change Management.
- Propose improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency.
- Support the institution of an HSE culture and ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, systems & controls.
- Ensure adequate HSE training and induction for all Section employees to meet HSE standards.
- Prepare all Section MIS and progress reports to provide accurate and timely reports.
