Role Description
Form Energy is hiring a Process Engineering Manager to oversee our Electrode Assembly Operations. In this role, you will lead the operations engineering and technician teams responsible for the performance, reliability, and efficiency of our cathode assembly production lines; spanning lamination, welding, gluing, and inspection processes. You'll bring strong technical judgment and a data-driven approach to guide your team in diagnosing operational issues, prioritizing improvement projects and implementing robust, high-impact solutions on the floor. You will own staffing, coaching, and performance management for your organization, while partnering with cross-functional engineering leaders to translate operational insights into meaningful, lasting manufacturing improvements. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your strong process engineering background and leadership experience to develop a world class, fully automated process.
Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
Own the process engineering section's operating results across lamination, welding, gluing, and inspection, holding your team accountable for line cadence, downtime, and overall throughput
Manage and develop a team of process engineers and technicians, including staffing, coaching, and performance decisions across the section
Establish and track section-level metrics (OEE, yield, cycle time) and direct resourcing toward the highest-impact bottlenecks across each process area
Set methods and standards for evaluating and vetting floor-level solutions, ensuring fixes across lamination, welding, gluing, and inspection are safe, robust, and effective before scale-up
Represent the section in cross-functional planning with sister engineering and manufacturing teams, resolving constraints that affect quality and throughput company-wide
Build and prioritize a continuous improvement roadmap for the section, balancing waste reduction, ergonomics, and process reliability against production demands
Act as the primary escalation point between the shop floor and the systems engineering team, ensuring process and human-factors feedback shapes next-generation equipment design
What you'll bring:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
7+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations, including demonstrated experience managing a team or section
Proven ability to hire, develop, and manage the performance of process engineers or technicians, including handling staffing and resourcing decisions
Deep familiarity with manufacturing metrics (OEE, downtime tracking) and a practical, root-cause approach to solving section-level problems across diverse unit processes
Working knowledge of assembly-line processes such as lamination, welding, gluing, or inspection, with the judgment to set standards for technical solutions across a team
Track record of establishing operational objectives and work plans, and adjusting them based on cost, schedule, and staffing tradeoffs
Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with experience representing a function's priorities to peer managers and design engineering leaders
Pragmatic problem-solving, intellectual curiosity, and comfort operating with ambiguity as the organization scales
Where you'll work:
This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV—an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
