Manager, Geotechnical Underground

Provide expert Underground Geotechnical services and support for designs to risk-benefit scenarios, in the Business Plan and Strategic Plans, for all AGA Underground assets, including:

- Leading the development of geotechnical engineering designs to support the Business plans Strategy and long-term Full Asset Potential initiatives.

- Coordinating compilation of geotechnical design charters as agreed upon with projects/operations, and managing task priorities, initiatives, deadlines and resourcing to drive these to completion.

- Supporting the implementation and application of functional geotechnical systems, (i.e., standards, guidelines, processes, procedures) on Projects and in operational Business Plans to ensure apt control of geotechnical hazards.

- Direct leadership, resource deployment, and task prioritisation over a flexible engineering team while maintaining a direct reporting line to geotechnical leadership and key stakeholders.

- Compiling and issuing discipline specific feedback, highlighting optionality and action register progress to the BU VP Technical, VP Geotechnical Engineering and Project/Mine Management as required

Coaching and mentoring the operational and CTO Geotechnical teams to be competent in managing geotechnical risks

A degree qualification in a relevant mining-related Geotechnical Engineering

A minimum of 15 years working experience in the mining industry

Sound practical understanding of exploration, mine development, primary mining activities within the entire mining value chain

Ability to take a one-to-two-year whole-of-business perspective in managing multiple competing priorities and reconciling these with the Company’s strategic priorities

Demonstrated capability in organising work, setting priorities, and exercising sound independent judgement and preparedness to take a well-reasoned stand on matters of importance.

Strong track record of practical implementation of analytical tools and analysis.

A natural ability to lead and work effectively with high performers and with varying technical teams.

A cultural awareness and willingness to explore and embrace different cultures and values

Highly effective interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with people at all levels within our organisation.

Preparedness to undertake extensive business travel

Able to provide a current National Police Clearance.

Have existing and ongoing valid Australian working rights (Mandatory).
