Deloitte is hiring a Manager, AML Analytics - Financial Engineering & Modeling in Toronto.

The role supports financial-services clients with financial crime analytics, quantitative modeling, model validation, and regulatory challenges.

The position works at the intersection of financial crime, model risk management, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and emerging technologies.

Job type and work model

The job type is permanent.

The work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead AML model development and validation engagements and advise on model risk, governance, and regulatory expectations.
  • Develop, enhance, validate, and optimize models for customer risk rating, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and other financial crime frameworks.
  • Assess model methodologies, data quality, assumptions, performance, and governance practices.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, oversee delivery, review analyses, and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Contribute to business development, thought leadership, and the growth of the AML Analytics practice.

Required experience and expertise

  • Significant experience in AML model development and/or validation, with extensive experience monitoring and improving AML models.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning, model performance, threshold optimization, segmentation, and outcome analysis.
  • End-to-end model validation experience, including conceptual soundness, data and methodology assessment, replication testing, sensitivity analysis, benchmarking, and reporting.
  • Deep knowledge of model risk frameworks and financial crime regulations, including SR 11-7, OSFI E-23, FINTRAC, BSA/AML, OFAC, FinCEN, FCA, and EU AMLD.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, SAS, R, or similar technologies, with experience using large and complex datasets.
  • Ability to lead engagements, manage teams, mentor junior practitioners, and communicate complex findings to senior stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications

  • Five to eight or more years of relevant experience is identified as an ideal profile.
  • A master's or PhD in a quantitative discipline is preferred.
  • Experience with regulatory exams, internal audits, consent-order remediation, model governance, or independent assurance is highly desirable.
  • CAMS, CFCS, CFE, FRM, or PRM certifications are considered an asset.

Compensation

  • The stated salary range is CAD 101,000 to CAD 169,000.
  • Eligible employees may participate in a bonus program and receive broader total rewards.
