Role Overview

The Maintenance Technician supports facility maintenance, machinery and equipment reliability, environmental processes, and waste-management activities at Magna's automotive manufacturing operation.

The role includes varied maintenance responsibilities, material handling, contractor support, and work across indoor and external building areas.

Education and Experience

  • Grade 12 education is required.
  • One to three years of related experience is required.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment and hand tools is required.
  • Basic HVAC and plumbing experience is required.
  • Good communication, reliable attendance, and satisfactory performance are required.

Training and Safety

  • Applicable training may include controlled entry, welding, WHMIS, forklift, crane, fire extinguisher, emergency procedures, confined space, lockout, First Aid, TDG, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, 5S, spill, propane and compressed gases, contractor safety, and waste management.
  • The role requires working in confined spaces and at heights and following QEMS policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Maintenance and Facilities Duties

  • Inspect and clean waste and outside storage areas daily and complete filtration-system and foam-exterior checklists.
  • Maintain, overhaul, and repair machinery and equipment as scheduled or required.
  • Assist with seasonal facilities work, general maintenance, material handling, and other assigned duties.
  • Complete facility-related preventive maintenance activities in a timely manner.
  • Provide assistance and oversight with contractors.

Environmental and Quality Duties

  • Weigh and log waste bins entering and leaving the facility and track them in applicable systems.
  • Assist with environmental management and recycling requirements, including waste manifest processes.
  • Identify and record problems related to products, processes, and the quality system.
  • Monitor compactor capacity and contact the disposal company as required.

Working Conditions

  • The role involves exposure to heat, cold, confined spaces, and working at heights.
  • Rotating shift work and overtime are required as needed.

Compensation

  • Hourly pay ranges from 26.93 to 36.53 CAD.
