Role Overview
Directly oversee the maintenance technician team and support training, parts, tools, and technical development.
Coordinate maintenance leads and technicians across assigned and situational site work.
Report to the Maintenance Manager in an onsite Cambridge facility role.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily maintenance activities in a unionized environment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Lead 5S, TPM, lean manufacturing, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot and maintain mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems.
- Schedule preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Collaborate with production and engineering to optimize equipment performance.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff.
- Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and inventory.
- Support capital projects and equipment installations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma is required.
- Certified trade qualification as a Millwright or Electrician is required; Red Seal is preferred.
- Minimum five years of industrial maintenance experience, including two years in a supervisory role.
- Five or more years of lead technician or manufacturing plant experience is an asset.
- Strong understanding of unionized work environments and labor relations.
- Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and programming; Allen-Bradley experience is preferred.
Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with CMMS systems such as SAP or Maximo.
- Knowledge of facility infrastructure including HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, water, sewer, and plant utilities.
- Knowledge of ovens, conveyors, machining, mixers, sanders, saws, other processing equipment, and clean room environments.
- Knowledge of PLC controls, robot applications and maintenance, SCADA, and MES systems.
- Demonstrated success implementing 5S, lean, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Fluent English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as needed.
Compensation
- Salary range is $85K to $105K per year plus an annual bonus.
Workplace
- This is an onsite position at PPG's Cambridge facility.
