About the Opportunity

As the Maintenance Engineer for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you'll be responsible for developing maintenance documentation, conducting maintenance engineering analyses, and supporting Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities across Defence programs. Working closely with engineering and sustainment teams, you will help optimise maintenance strategies, improve asset reliability, and ensure long-term operational capability.

What’s Involved

Develop and maintain maintenance documentation, support plans, and support strategies

Conduct Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM), FMECA, LORA, and related maintenance engineering analyses

Define maintenance requirements, procedures, and supportability criteria

Collaborate with Integrated Product Support (IPS) disciplines to deliver integrated support solutions

Integrate maintenance and supportability requirements into system and ship design activities

Engage stakeholders to align maintenance and support objectives.

Ensure compliance with Defence standards, ILS policies, and contractual requirements

Analyse maintenance and supportability data to support decision-making and continuous improvement

You’ll Need

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Sustainment Engineering, or a similar complex asset environment.

Experience developing maintenance plans, procedures, schedules, and technical documentation

Understanding of maintenance engineering and supportability methodologies

Experience reviewing engineering drawings, technical publications, and design data

Strong analytical, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a project environment

Australian Citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Baseline Defence Security Clearance
