Working under guidance and limited supervision, the machinist will provide machining support for the fabrication of components and work in a team environment to provide services for a variety of customers both internal and external to Starfire Energy.

Fabrications range in size from miniature to very large and include common materials as well as materials with hazardous characteristics.

This will require you to work from complex drawings, sketches, CAD models, and/or verbal instructions to facilitate the manufacturing of parts and assemblies.

include programming, setting up, and operating manual and CNC mills and lathes, EDM and a variety of general machine shop tooling.

The Machinist will also ensure parts meet tolerance requirements.

Drawings & Specifications Ability to read and understand drawings and sketches which use Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols to determine design factors such as size, shape, position and arrangement of features and parts comprising assemblies.

Ability to understand specifications and determine how they relate to the manufacturing of the component and/or assembly.

Machining Proficiency in the operation and setup of a wide variety of manual lathe and milling platforms, 3-axis manual and CNC platforms, CAD-CAM programming skills, vertical machining center 3D profiling skills, familiarity with EDM operation, and machining to tolerances of +/- 0.005".

Customer Service Provide excellent team member/customer service by creating manufacturing drawings or sketches for the production of hardware while also reviewing team member/customer provided drawings and provide recommendations for revision to enhance manufacturability.

Ability to communicate effectively with customers to extract design intent.

Dimensional Inspections Ability to perform basic precision measurements on parts using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, verniers, and others.

Tools & Operating Knowledge Ability to operate manual and powered lifting equipment/ devices.

Communication, Teamwork, and Safety Demonstrated effectiveness in communication and teaming with peers, customers, and technicians as appropriate to achieve or negotiate work requirements.

Ability to follow policies and procedures for working safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Completion of other duties, as assigned.
