Job objectives
The Logistics Officer provides logistics support and oversees overall logistics processes in support of organizational objectives.
The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organization and in-depth logistics knowledge.
The role requires knowledge of import and export requirements in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
Responsibilities and duties
- Select carriers and negotiate contracts and rates.
- Plan and monitor inbound and outgoing deliveries.
- Research shipping techniques, routing and carriers.
- Integrate logistics with company procedures and operations across departments.
- Evaluate budgets and expenditures and monitor performance metrics.
- Ensure operations follow laws, guidelines and ISO requirements.
- Obtain multiple quotes, negotiate costs and ensure on-time delivery.
- Coordinate with approved logistics forwarders and other departments.
- Develop efficient transport and routing strategies to maximize savings.
- Support invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and manifestos.
- Report shipment status and logistics issues.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related course.
- Minimum of two years of import/export experience using land, sea and air freight in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
