Scope of Service: Liver ICU & HDU

• L-10 LIVER ICU & HDU provides care for surgical patients aged 14 years and above requiring intensive management and observation following major surgery as well as any patient post-operatively with an underlying medical condition requiring close monitoring and active intensive care management.
• Moreover, L10 caters to specialty surgical procedures such as liver, renal, lung, simultaneous kidney/ pancreas transplant, HIPEC, and craniotomy post-o care.
• (HDU beds 14 and 16) Patients admitted to L-10 HDU must have no need for mechanical ventilation, with stable hemodynamic status with no need for vasoactive medication, no active bleeding, not require massive fluid resuscitation or frequent electrolyte replacement.
• Services include:
• Invasive hemodynamic monitoring (EV1000, PiCCO, Vigelio)
• Nursing care for mechanically ventilated patient
• Hemodialysis (Not by ICU)
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CiCa)
• IV therapy/ cannulation
• Fluid and electrolyte monitoring and replacement
• Blood and blood products administration and management
• Airway management
• Management of ECMO patients (VV, VA)
• Pain management, patient-controlled analgesia, epidural analgesia, and paravertebral analgesia
• Administration of inotropes and vasoactive agents
• Emergency resuscitation procedures/ code coverage
• Management of post-operative drains and wound care (VAC machines)
• Safety management
• Infection control
• Chemotherapy/ cytotoxic agents administration and handling.
• Psychosocial/ Spiritual care
• Intra-abdominal pressure monitoring
• Plasmapheresis
• Tracheostomy care
• Nutritional care Parenteral Nutrition / Enteral Feeding
• Skincare
• Bedside invasive procedures such as bronchoscopy, endoscopy, TEE, percutaneous tracheostomy, thoracentesis, Lumbar puncture, paracentesis, biopsy, CVC, arterial line, Quinton insertion
• Chest drain insertion, management, and troubleshoots
• Hypothermia protocol
• Administration of sedation and neuromuscular blockade agents
• RASS scoring
• Sedation protocol
• Sedation vacation SAT/SBT
• BIS monitoring
• Train of Four monitoring(TOF)
• ICP, EVD monitoring
