Responsibilities
- Verify all crane/derrick and platform inspections have been accomplished
- Inspect the area for potential hazards including excessive load, overhead obstructions, electrical lines, hazardous locations, inadequate surface, wind/weather conditions
- Verify the base of the crane is level within manufacturer's recommendations (no greater than one percent)
- Verify platform attachment as specified by manufacturer or qualified person for boom attached platforms
- Ensure total weight of lifted load does not exceed fifty percent of crane/derrick's rated load
- Verify a trial lift has been performed with platform loaded to at least expected weight
- Not allow crane/derrick to travel with personnel in platform except on fixed rails or runways
- Verify platform is securely attached and load line is not attached to or wrapped around platform
- Keep people from passing under the raised platform
- Ensure no more people on platform than needed to do the job
- Ensure crane/derrick and platform manufacturer's information is consulted for specific operation instructions
- Ensure appropriate number of signal persons, ground crew, and platform occupants for safe personnel lift
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of Rigging experience in construction industry
- At least 5 years supervisory experience as a Lifting Supervisor
- Good English communication skills (read and write reports)
- Knowledge in common systematic lapses involving Lifting activities
- Knowledge in common hazards associated with unsecured/slippage of loads
- Knowledge in common hazards associated with Lifting operations involving cranes
- Knowledge in reading and executing lifting plans
- Knowledge about Risk Assessment
- Knowledge of Lifting gears for Lifting operations
- Recommended Rigging and slinging methods
- Adequate training and experience to act as appointed person for overall Lifting operations

Key Purpose
- To supervise the personnel lift operation.
Role & Responsibilities
- Verify all crane/derrick and platform inspections have been accomplished as outlined in this part.
- Inspect the area for potential hazards, any hazards found during this inspection must be reported to the employer prior to performing the personnel lift. This inspection must include, but not limited to: Excessive load and/or radius; Overhead obstructions and electrical transmission lines; Hazardous
- Verify the base of the crane is level in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and in no case greater than one percent of level.
- For crane/derrick with a boom attached platform, verify that the platform is attached as specified by the platform manufacturer and crane/derrick manufacturer or qualified person.
- Not allow the total weight of the lifted load, including rigging, platform, personnel, tools, and material, to exceed fifty percent of the crane/derrick's rated load, under the planned conditions of operation.
- Not allow the platform's rating or the crane's/derrick's reduced rated load to be exceeded when loads are transferred to the hoisted platform.
- Verify a trial lift has been performed. Verify that during the trial lift, the platform is loaded to at least the weight expected during the actual lift.
- Not allow the crane/derrick to travel with personnel in the personnel platform except when the crane/derrick runs on fixed rails or runways.
- Verify the platform is securely attached to the crane or derrick. Verify the load line is not attached to or wrapped around the platform. Verify boom attached personnel platforms are attached according to manufacturer's specifications or a qualified person.
- Keep people from passing under the raised platform.
- Ensure there are no more people on the platform than are needed to do the job.
- Must ensure the crane/derrick and platform manufacturer's information is consulted for specific instruction on the crane/derrick operation. The crane/derrick and platform operation instructions in this part are intended as minimum criteria.
Candidate Profile
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Minimum of 10 years of Rigging experience in construction industry, with at least 5 years supervisory experience as a Lifting Supervisor (5 years GCC experience will be advantage).
- Must have good English communication skills, (read and write reports, etc.)
- Knowledge in common systematic lapses involving Lifting activities.
- Knowledge in common hazards associated with unsecured / slippage of loads.
- Knowledge in common hazards associated with Lifting operations involving cranes.
- Knowledge in reading and executing lifting plans.
- Knowledge about Risk Assessment.
- Knowledge of Lifting gears for Lifting operations.
- Recommended Rigging and slinging methods
- Should have adequate training and experience and be competent to act as an appointed person or focal point for overall Lifting operations.
- Have strong administrative and supervisory skills to schedule, monitor and control the lifting equipment personnel and lifting operations.
