Task Description

  • The Licensed Aircraft Engineer performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and provides final release for maintenance work.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Performance: Carry out scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including on wing and off wing tasks, ensuring all activities adhere to approved technical publications and company procedures.
  • Troubleshooting & Rectification: Professionally diagnose and resolve technical defects in aircraft systems, working to minimize downtime.
  • Work Release & Documentation: Provide the final release for maintenance work performed by mechanics, ensuring all tasks are documented accurately and compliantly in the maintenance records.
  • Technical Guidance: Offer guidance and on the job training to mechanics and technicians, sharing specialized technical knowledge to enhance their skills.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) regulations, company procedures, and health and safety standards.
  • Aircraft Availability: Contribute to maintaining high levels of aircraft availability by ensuring timely and quality maintenance performance.
  • On site Support: Travel to various locations on short notice to perform troubleshooting and defect rectification when an aircraft requires recovery or line maintenance support.
  • Technical Authority: Exercise licensing privileges to release and approve maintenance tasks and ensure work meets company standards and targets.
  • Operational Support: Assist and advise management on technical documentation, maintenance requirements, and solutions to technical problems.
  • Fleet & Tooling Management: Ensure the proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and ground support equipment, and participate in developing requirements for new aircraft and GSE.
  • Documentation Integrity: Ensure all work packages and maintenance activities are documented correctly and timely within the company's IT systems.

Requirements

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent apprenticeship / qualifications.
  • Academic qualification for this role is a minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent.
  • Aircraft platform training (On a/c requirement).
  • Experienced and competent leader at this level.
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years working at Technician level prior to undertaking a Supervisor role.
  • Demonstrating breadth of experience, currency & recency via a Log Book capturing skills, knowledge and authorities for working on Aircraft type or in bays.
  • Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures.
  • Management training.
  • PDR training / experience.
  • Strong customer awareness with experience of his culture, ethos, policies, capabilities and processes such that the individual has gravitas with the Customer.
  • Relevant Engineering degree or equivalent.
